Travel Cancellation Insurance
Travel cancellation insurance covers your costs in case you have to
cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons. With this policy, the
insurer will cover the cost of cancellation if your trip is cancelled or
not started for the following reasons:
-
Unexpected serious illness (covers for insured person or persons at risk)
-
Death, serious accident, pregnancy, intolerance to vaccinations (covers for insured person or persons at risk)
-
Breakage of prostheses (covers for insured person or persons at risk)
-
Loss of the workplace with subsequent unemployment (registered with the Federal Job Agency)
-
Commencement of an employment relationship or an activity with
compensation for additional work (if the insured person was registered
as unemployed when booking the travel)
-
Change in workplace (if the insured trip or holiday was booked before knowledge of the change in workplace)
-
Repetition of failed examinations at a school, university, university of applied science or at college
-
Non-transfer of a pupil if it concerns a school or class trip
-
Damages to the property as a result of fire, burst water pipe,
elemental events or criminal acts of third parties (e.g. burglary theft)
-
Unexpected calling of the insured person to basic military service, to a military exercise or community service
Note: Bear in mind that each of the points mentioned above has its
limitations. “Persons at Risk” are the considered relatives of an
insured person.
Purchase a Travel Cancellation Policy
Travel cancellation insurance must be bought at least 30 days prior
to the beginning of the trip. The insurance coverage begins upon the
point in time stipulated by the policyholder; but not before the premium
owed has been paid and when the trip starts (in case the travel has to
be cancelled before departure).
