Salamanca is located in the mid-west area of Spain in the province of Castilla y León, 2-3 hours drive from Madrid and 1 hour away from the Portuguese border. It has a population of 165,000 inhabitants. This little village was named the "European Culture Capital" of 2002, and is also a UNESCO World Heritage City. Among foreign students who wish to study Spanish in Spain, Salamanca has always been very popular due to the Spanish spoken in the area, which is the purest in Spain.
Salamanca, considered an university city, offers many facilities for cultural and sporting day-trips to villages, the mountains or to many lakes.
Without doubt, Salamanca is a pleasant and safe place to live. It is widely known because of its universities and its young population. There are students everywhere and you can go practically everywhere on foot. Its inhabitants are humble, friendly people who warmly encourage foreigners to join in the fun of this bustling city and improve their Spanish.
Salamanca Spanish School
Current temperature:
The Salamanca Spanish school is located in the center of the city, only five minutes from Plaza Mayor, Salamanca’s main square.
To be more precise, the school is located on the corner of Gran Vía.
As regards the building, the Salamanca Spanish School building is a former convent and has a deep history: in the first half of the 19th century, it was home to the College of Medicine, and it only became a school in 1916 when it was taken over by a religious sisterhood, Las Siervas de San Jose. The main entrance impressively opens onto a beautiful cloister, the so-called "well yard".
You can be sure that you will always have a lot of fun here. For instance, some trips you can choose from are Plaza Mayor, Old Cathedral and New Cathedral, Ayuntamiento, Casa de las Conchas, Convento de las Dueñas, La Sierra de Francia, La Sierra de Bejar, Duero River & Campo Charro, among others.
