All about Peru

St. Peter Basilica
Peru is world-wide known as the cradle of the Inca Empire, the home of enduring indigenous groups, and therefore a country with majestic historical and cultural standing. It is the home of the largest and never-equaled empire in the world, whose remains are traces of a mystery never unveiled. Machu Pichu, a lost city discovered in 1911 at an elevation of 2,350 m (7,710 ft) northwest of Cuzco, leaves speechless and breathless even the most experienced visitor. Peru is an open invitation to enjoy genuine adventures in the splendor of its varied landscapes, its exotic wildlife, the contrasts of colonial architecture with high-rise buildings in Lima, and the laid-back calmness of its people. Yet, that’s not all: Peru is the star of UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritages for the number of Peruvian sites it has declared and preserved for humanity, which makes the array of experiences endless.

Cuzco city in Peru
Present-day Peru is struggling to raise its economy and the well-being of its people. Though slowly, progress is gradually changing much of Peru. The cities, filled with Pre-Columbian and Spanish Colonial atmosphere are already showing a distinctly Western aspect. Areas previously inaccessible to outsiders, are now being opened by new roads and tracks that connect every corner of the country, and industrial urbanizations also dominate new regions of the country.
