Playa del Carmen is one of the most attractive destinations in the Mexican Caribbean. It is located in the heart of the Yucatan’s Riviera Maya, quite near to other stunning beach site: Cancun.
As one of the most beautiful destinations in Mexico, Playa del Carmen has the special feature of displaying some of the most exceptional beaches of the Maya Riviera. It combines the energy of a cosmopolitan city, which has flourished once its beauties were known in other countries, with the spirit of a small sea village, and the challenges of a future of deeper development and growth. Its privileged position makes the city quite charming for its accesibility to nearby beaches, equally beautifully, but all with a distinctive character.
Precisely for all that, Playa del Carmen is a beach resort town whose beaches are washed by soft and warm waters. Despite being one of Mexico’s fastest growing cities and receiving a constant flow of tourists every year, it retains its charm as a small town. Many streets are still unpaved, and though construction projects abound, its rather small population prefers to keep the bohemic essence of this town, which has also extended its fame beyond Mexican frontiers. Playa del Carmen is just perfect for all water sports, such as diving, snorkeling, kayaking, among others. In fact, the city excels at the opportunities to practice these sports since its waters are turquoise-blue and incredibly clear.
