Located in the southern region of Mexico, Oaxaca is the capital of the state of the same name, and main center of Native American culture. The city has an astounding legacy of Spanish colonialism and Indian traditions, and currently state of Oaxaca houses the largest number of bilingual population speaking both Spanish and Native American languages.
Oaxaca is also a site of enormous appealing, not only for the composition of its population, but also for the rhythm of the city and the many opportunities it offers to tourists and outsiders to get in real touch with the locals. The city has been declared Humanity’s Cultural Patrimony by UNESCO due to its mixture of colonial beauty, cultural heritage, variety of typical foods, and strong presence of Native Americans. Oaxaca has also a rich countryside with hills, virgin beaches, valleys, and natural parks that complement, in perfect proportion and harmony, culture with nature.
Oaxaca depicts a vast geographical and ethnic diversity, very much present in its landscapes and population. The city is, therefore, an open exhibition of fine arts, crafts, folkore, pottery, textiles, and wooden animals. Local artisans fill the squares and markets with their long-held traditional products and the music of their language. The city is base of two quite important long-established universities.

The Spanish school is an old building in colonial style, with the traditional thick walls of that ancient time. Besides, it has a very sunny yard where students can spend their free time in a cozy atmosphere.
The school is situated in the center of the historical part of Oaxaca. The downtown square “Zocalo” is just 4 blocks away, and the beautiful ex-convent of Santo Domingo is a few blocks away. The whole area is surrounded by fashionable cafes, museums, shops and art galleries.
It has a main patio with tables, and benches to relax and a backyard. It has comfortable and well-lit classrooms, plus a bar in the main yard.
Besides, the Spanish school organizes different activities. You can choose from one day trips to the archaeological zone Monte Alban, the widest tree in the world, “El Tule”, or the beautiful waterfall Hierve el Agua; or the botanical garden of Santo Domingo. But there is more, if you want to spend two or three days away, the school offers you the opportunity to visit Puerto Escondido, Puerto Angel and Huatulco.
