Located in the Monteverde zone, encompassing a total of ten small villages, Monteverde is a magic Costa Rican place in the high mountains of Tilaran, almost at 1440 meters (4662 ft). It is internationally admired for its effort in preserving the conservation of cloud forest reserves and for encouraging the sustainable development of its communities.
Monteverde is a call to your sensitivity and awareness for life in its most natural state. Translated to "Green Mountain", this is exactly what you should expect to find in this town. Yet, no imagination can reach the natural marvels you’ll encounter here. Just keep silent, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let nature embrace you with all its sounds and smells. The experience is simply unforgettable. This tiny, scattered village is a gift for nature lovers - the possibilities for ecotourism, adventure, and outdoor activities are endless - and for scientific researches, who come constantly to Monteverde to study the species that live hidden in its lands.
Monteverde and its neighboring towns are peaceful communities deeply commited to protect one of the most mystical cloud forests on Earth, apart from their traditional pastoral lifestyles, and the ecological treasures they have in the area. The network of reserves in the zone is incredibly rich in biodiversity, and represents one of the most remarkable examples of organized infrastructure and shared goals aimed at guaranteeing the continuity of these natural treasures. In Monteverde, however, you’ll also enjoy a nice nightlife, and some appealing festivals.
