Heredia is located near San Jose in north-central Costa Rica. It is the capital of the province of the same name, and it is well-known for its university population, and for being part of the fourth province in importance in the country.
Affectionately called "The City of the Flowers", Heredia is a small town, with a colonial atmosphere, adobe buildings still present, narrow streets, and old buildings. Perhaps, most of Heredia’s strength lies in its position as the base for many other regions of the country, quite near the city, but offering a range of landscapes and possibilities for outdoor activities very different from each other. So, starting from Heredia, you’ll be able to get a revealing insight of Costa Rican own spirit.
However Heredia is not only that, but also a lovely town, with a few historical buildings, but plenty of attractions in the outskirts. It is better known for being the jumping-off point to other places of great appeal. Heredia is home to one of Costa Rica’s largest universities, the National University of Costa Rica, that takes a lot of local as well as international students, which endows this small city with a lively energy.
Heredia Spanish School
Current temperature:
Within the campus of the Heredia Spanish School, you find gardens and patios with areas set up for studying, a computer lab, a kitchen where a Costa Rican cooking class is held once a week, and a large dance room where dance classes are also held.
The Spanish School is located in a complex of 3 restored colonial buildings in central Heredia (20 minutes by bus from the city of San Jose).
Classrooms have full audio-visual equipment and provide a spacious, breezy working atmosphere. Students also enjoy relaxing in hammocks, on the lawn, doing homework in one of our comfortable study areas, practicing Spanish in the language lab and using Internet.
During the week the school may take students to theaters, museums, nearby parks, discotheques, soccer games and concerts. At weekends, the school hosts excursions to many different parts of the country: possibilities range from relaxing on a white sandy beach to studying the complex ecosystems of the Monteverde Cloud Forest and watching the eruptions of a live volcano.
Airport Transfer Service: Our students who stay with a host family can request airport transfer service from San Jose International airport at no extra cost.
School Capacity: 150 student per day.
