Because of Bolivia’s remoteness, it seems as if the passing of time had stopped here, allowing the country to keep its old-rooted traditions, exotic wildlife, and mighty natural landscapes very much alive, still surrounded by an aura of mystery. All of Bolivia’s essence come to life everytime Bolivians celebrate their local festivities. The UNESCO heritage and the country’s largest annual celebration Carnaval de Oruro (Oruro’s carnival) is the icon of Bolivians’ spirit and an only opportunity to see a ritual that represents a fight between good and evil; a fight bright in colors, costumes, music and energy. Bolivians love and veneration for earth can be witnessed in the celebration of Pachamama (Mother Earth), in which they thank and pay their respects to Earth.

Bolivia’s most important expansion to its economy comes hand in hand with some of its most valuable assets: its mineral deposits, including petroleum and natural gas, and its renewable natural resources, such as agricultural and natural forests. This is bringing about rapid developments in agriculture, a growth of natural gas and oil exploitation, and the modernization of telecommunications. Besides, thanks to the country’s vast variety of natural and cultural resources, as well as its improved economic and political stability, tourism is starting to play an increasingly important role as Bolivia attracts larger number of foreign sightseers.
