Sliema was once a tranquil fishing town that throughout the years became a booming tourist destination due to its pleasant weather and scenic beauty. Around the 1850s Sliema became a summer resort for the well-to-do and, before long, the resort grew into a booming town that has been attracting visitors year after year.
Sliema, meaning "peace", for its origins as a quiet village, keeps that original flair that makes it so special, yet nowadays Sliema is also one of the most built up areas where locals and visitors alike can enjoy a wealthy lifestyle and plenty leisure facilities.
