Why did you decide to study abroad? Why did you choose to do it here?
I wanted to study abroad for a very long time, and decided to go to Brazil because Portuguese is a beautiful and romantic language.
What did you know about Heredia before coming?
I was aware of its beautiful beaches and surroundings, also I wanted to experience the joy of the people with the “Carnaval” spirit running in their blood.
What were your thoughts before coming? Were you concerned about anything?
I wasn’t sure about Brazil’s safety; luckily EasyGo sent me useful information before I traveled so I was more relaxed and knew how to avoid unsafe situations.
What was the first thing that caught your attention?
I’ve been in Rio de Janeiro a few years ago and it’s amazing that Salvador is so different from Rio because both are Brazilian cities, but then of course Brazil is a huge country almost the size of the USA and I can learn once more that political divisions can be quite ridiculous culture-wise. Salvador de Bahía shows more clearly its African roots.
How did you overcome the cultural shock? What was the most difficult thing for you to get used to?
The most difficult thing I had to get used to, was the weather, I felt sticky for a few days. But since I was next to the beach this wasn’t a big issue for a long time.
Have you gone out? What do you think about the nightlife here?
Of course! All I am going to say is that Brazil is defined by its nightlife!
Would you recommend this trip?
Of course, I could mix fun with learning!
